The Citadel of Qaitbay or the Fort of Qaitbay in Alexandria, is one of the most important and huge defensive strongholds along the Mediterranean Sea coast.

This Fort played an important role of the fortification system in the 15th century of Alexandria.
The Fort of Qaitbey is one of the most visible and famous landmarks in Alexandria.

located at the spot of the stunning lighthouse of Pharos.
The fort oversees the entrance to the Eastern Harbour, and directly looks at the sea.

However it becomes a dramatic place during the winter as it throws huge waves on to the city!
it has taken too much to appear as amazing and military as a fort should be.

Mohammad Ali modernized the fort which was then a 350 year old fort, built around 1480.
The site was as mentioned before, the place where the famous lighthouse of Pharos was located.

It was considered one of the amazing seven wonders of the ancient world.
Its history is clad in legends, and it may have been a tremendous 150 meters high.

There are some evidences that say that its square base once contained a staggering 300 rooms. The fort of qaitbay was built in the second half of the 3rd century BCE.

The red granite columns used in the mosque within the walls.

Fort Qaitbey is a wonderful tourist location for day out with kids, and visiting this fort is very entertaining experience for all the family members.

Fort Qaitbey Alexandria is one of the biggest visitors’ attractions and one of the most important icons of the city.

Queen Nefertari :

Queen Nefertari, the favourite Royal Consort of Pharaoh Ramses II ,He called her “The One for Whom the Sun shines.”

She was a member of the 19th dynasty in the New Kingdom (1550-1070 BC), also the main wife of Ramses II (1303-1213 BC).

Queen Nefertari was his first wife and his true beloved.

This  love is evident through the kind words engraved on the walls of the Nefertari Temple in Abu Simble.

Ramses II describes his beloved wife as the goddess of strife, beauty and, The Great Royal Wife.

The Lady of the Two Lands, The Goddess of Upper and Lower Egypt,also Nefertari is the only wife of Ramses II’s wives, who have built a special temple next to it His great temple.in the city of Abu Simble.

Her full name is “Nefertari Meritmut”. It means Nefertari Beloved of the goddess .Her tomb is the one of famous tomb in the valley of queens.

Nefertari’s Tomb:

Nefertari tomb is amazing the beauty of the inscriptions, accuracy and ingenuity the use of bright colors.

In addition jewelry, intricately painted sarcophagi, majestic sculptures, perfume and cosmetics jars.

Also you will see the village Deir el-Medina, where skillful artisans worked, lived and creating stunning tombs,and essential materials for the afterlife.

Discovering Nefertari’s Tomb:

Queen Nefertari’s tomb discovered  by Egyptologists in 1904. however,it opened to the public only in the early nineties of the last century,because of the occurrence of some damage, in the inscriptions and decorations due to the deposition of salts Queens.

At the time, the area described as an “isolated valley, rare crossed by the traveler, the undisturbed reign of hawks, jackals and wolves with no trace of plants and yet solemn in its sad silence.”

They discovered dozens of shafts, and tombs including Nefertari’s magnificent burial chamber.

Also It consists of two areas – the upper antechambers and the lower burial chamber, connected together by descending staircases.

Working and Living in Deir el-Medina:

If you go to the north Valley of the Kings at the necropolis of Thebes, you will find an integrated city called the Monastery of the City.

Deir el-Medina area shows the remains of the houses of this class of workers and their distinguished families.

Also some of them were digging and building the tombs of the Pharaohs in the Valley of the Kings.

The workers who built the tombs were specialists and artists,

in the design, engraving, and decoration of the walls of the tomb.

In conclusion, Nefertari is the most important wife of King Ramses II, who lived in the era of the nineteenth family in the 11th century BC. M.
She is also the mother of Maryat Amun who also became a queen.

In addition to her magnificent tomb,which bear witness to the love of King Ramses II for his wife.

Siwa’s geographic isolation helped protect a unique society that stands distinctly apart from mainstream Egyptian culture. Today, local traditions , the local Berber language, still dominate.

For Siwa Oasis,the tourism is considered as part of the local economy.

It is one of the places that tourists go to for treatment ,it is distinguished by its hot sand.

which helps in healing many diseases and expelling toxins.

The Siwans are very welcoming to the tourists and the slow pace of Siwa lifestyle wonderfully intoxicating.

Shali:

Town center called Shali is a tourist destination now. where tourists climb up the melted mud and salt mound for see views over the vast of palm trees and olive groves that stretched out or miles in each direction.

Temple of the Oracle:

Located 4 km east of the present town of Siwa , the Temple of the Oracle is believed to have housed the famous Greek oracle of Jupiter Amun, to which Alexander the Great headed directly when he came to Egypt for the first time in 331 BC.  it is believed that the Macedonian leader asked the oracle if he was going to “rule the world,” .legend has it that the answer was “yes, but not for very long.”

The temple has a great vestibule and forecourt.

The Mountain of the Dead:

The Mountain of the Dead(Gebel Al-Mawta) burial ground includes several terraced tombs that are located down the side of the mountain.

where inscriptions helped to date the oldest graves to researchers and scholars. burials continued in this cemetery until the late Roman era.

Fatnas Island:

To watch the sunset,Fatnas Island is the perfect place to watch the sunset.

The backdrop of the dunes against the lake, and palm trees on the shore makes it the perfect place for photography.

Great Sand Sea :

The Siwa Oasis is also located on the doorstep of the Great Sand Sea .
Which is the world’s largest dune fields, the Great Sand Sea straddles Egypt and Libya.

stretching more than 800km from its northern edge near the Mediterranean coast south to Gilf Kebir.

Covering a colossal 72,000 sq km,above all it contains some of the largest recorded dunes in the world, including one that is 140km long.
